Accidental Claim Jan Dhan Yojana
As per the government’s new Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, every Indian national can have a zero balance account and avail the benefits of various policies covered under the scheme. Among many benefits, one of the key features is that the account holder would be issued a RuPay Debit Card that would come along with an Accidental Claim of Rs 1 lakh.
Across the country, there are Crores of people living below poverty lines or in far flung areas, who till now do not have yet had access to bank account. Accidental claim was a farer dream for many of them. With this PM Jan Dhan Yojana, this security would be provided to the masses and needy sections across the country.
Unlike any other insurance plans, any account holder would be eligible for the accidental claim without paying any premiums for it. The saving account comes along with the accidental claim. Anyone above the age of 10 years can avail this benefit. However, if any individual has more than one account, he or she would be eligible for accidental claim in just one account and not all.
What is welcoming for the common man is that there is no premium for the accidental insurance cover, which one has to pay if availing accidental insurance from any bank or financial institution. Under PM Jan Dhan Yojana, the premium for the accidental cover is paid by NPCI at the rate of Rs 0.47 per card. The move is made by the government in order to facilitate those sections of society who till now could not afford a bank account or any accidental insurance cover.
Last but not the least, the scheme promises a further life insurance and additional pension products in its second phase of inclusion.
