A one-time financial help scheme has been started by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma of Assam. The main objective of the scheme is to offer help to the widow who have lost their husbands due to in COVID. If husband is a government servant, the widow will not get the financial help. Otherwise, of widow fulfills the eligibility criteria, she will be eligible for the same. The main purpose of launching the scheme is to offer financial help to the women and makes a living from the help. The scheme would help to cover up for a total of eight districts in Assam. Target group of scheme –
Though a total of 873 widows have been identified by state authorities to offer financial help, it will count to 2000 to 2500 widows in total at the end from Assam
Financial help offered for the scheme –
The state authorities will give a total of rupees 2.5 lakhs to widows who have lost their husband due to COVID
Total cheque given for the scheme –
A total of 176 cheques has been given to the beneficiaries as they are eligible under the scheme. The widows belong to eight different districts in Assam
Schemes for children–
The Assam government has come up with suitable schemes for children who have lost parents in COVID and would be given rupees 3500 monthly
However, other than this, the state government in cooperation with finance minister would give financial help to the families affected in COVID and such initiative would help the people of Assam. The detailed discussion about the financial help has been decided in state budget of 2021-22 by Finance Minister Ajanta Neog.

- Income limit of family – If only the income limit of the family is less than rupees 5 lakh, the widow of the family is eligible to get the benefits
- Residential eligibility – As the scheme has been started in Assam, only the eligible candidates of the state are eligible
- Number of members in family – The candidate who wish to get the scheme benefits should furnish the number of members in the family
- Lower income group – The widows of government servants are not eligible are they are already included in pension and other norms

- Identification proof – The candidate should furnish suitable identification proof and show Aadhaar card, Voter id or equivalent as suitable identification
- Income certificate – The widow need to furnish the annual income certificate of family to justify their eligibility for the scheme
- Residential proof – The domicile certificate should be produced to help the authorities understand that the widow is a native of the state
The beneficiaries of Window Pension and Orunodoi program are also eligible to get the scheme benefits by Assam state authorities. As the scheme has been introduced in Assam, only the beneficiary native to state can get the financial help, others are not allowed to register for the same.
