Mukhyamantri Rajshri Yojana (Rajasthan)
The annual budget report was presented by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of the state of Rajasthan, Smt. Vasundhara Raje on 8th March, 2016 in the state capital, Jaipur. Two Govt. policies for the betterment of the condition of girl child in the state were announced namely Mukhyamantri Rajshri Yojana (MRY) and another one is Mukhyamantri Saksham Baalika Yojana (MSBY). These two are the flagship projects launched by the Rajasthan govt. this year which is expected to bring women empowerment and equality in the state. The girl children are to be made more educated and empowered so that they can live with their heads held high.
What is Mukhyamantri Rajshri Yojana?
The Mukhyamantri Rajshri Yojana is a flagship project launched by the CM of Rajasthan in this year’s annual budget for the common masses of the state which will provide financial support in educating the girl children of the state. There are many instances where the girl child in the state of Rajasthan is deprived by their basic right to education. The education system has no such effective plans to bring back the drop out girls from the school. So this Mukhyamantri Rajshri Yojana will be dedicated to all girl students, especially those who are from poor and backward families, by giving them financial support for basic education.
Vision of launching Mukhyamantri Rajshri Yojana for Rajasthan
The project named Mukhyamantri Rajshri Yojana was launched in Rajasthan for helping the girl students in the school by providing them necessary financial support in form of grants or most commonly known as scholarships in schools. Most families consider their girl child as a burden to the family and do not support the education of a girl child in the family. So the Govt. has decided to focus on women education and women empowerment and decided to take necessary actions against it and finish the ill factors affecting the female education in the society.

Why the need of projects like Mukhyamantri Rajshri Yojana needed in Rajasthan?
Rajasthan is a state in Northern India where the condition of education of women is very poor. The majority of women in the state are not allowed to get good education and exposure to career options. The sex ratio of the state is also not up to the mark as the number of females per thousand males is alarmingly low in this state. So the women in the state, mostly those who belong to poor, backward and illiterate families were not given enough liberty and equality in the society. The literacy ratio of the women in the state to that of males is also very poor.
Some facts regarding gender inequality and education of girls in Rajasthan
Illiteracy and gender inequality are the two major stigmas that the state of Rajasthan is facing till now. The female literacy ratio in the state is quite low as maximum number of girl child leave going to schools and do not complete their elementary education. Rajasthan is the last ranking state in India in terms of female literacy out of the 35 states of the country. Its rank is 33 in terms of the overall literacy rate of male and female combined. As per the last census reports, nearly 52.6 % of females are educated in the state where as the average is about 65 % in India. So projects like Mukhyamantri Rajshri Yojana will surely help in improving this.
Mukhyamantri Rajshri Yojana – a big step in abolishing female illiteracy rate
The newly launched program named the Mukhyamantri Rajshri Yojana will give timely scholarships to the girl students, right from their primary classes up to their higher studies. Those girl children, belonging to this state, who will be born after the 1st of June, 2016 will be eligible for getting the free scholarships under the Mukhyamantri Rajshri Yojana. The Chief Minister has promised to improve the female literacy in the state and encourage the girl students to get education by providing them financial support and other benefits.
