Features of the scholarship scheme

  • New classroom tests – Classroom-based tests are conducted to recognize the skill of the students and promote productivity level. By identifying the bright students, the scheme can help children to pursue their careers better.
  • Target group of the scheme – The children belonging to the underprivileged sections are the target group for the scheme.
  • Main objective of the scheme –The main idea behind the scheme launch is to improve the socio economic condition of the minority communities. It also encourages the parents to help them send the wards to schools to continue with their education.

Eligibility criteria

  • Residential details – The scheme is open for Indian nationals to get the benefits.
  • States eligible for the scheme – Though the scheme is open for the Indian students, the scholarship facility has recently been opened for Tamil Nadu and Kerala only.
  • Class eligibility – Students studying in class 1 to 10 are eligible for the scholarship facility of the PSY Pre Matric scholarship.
  • Educational Qualification –Candidates who have passed any qualifying exam in the year 2020 are eligible for the scholarship benefits.
  • Scholarship reservation – 20% of the seats are reserved for disabled candidates and 30% for girl candidates.

Eligibility criteria for Pradhama Shiksha Yojana Post Matric scholarship

  • Residential details – Indian students are eligible to get the benefits.
  • States eligible for the scheme – Though scheme facility is open for the Indian students, scholarship facility is only available for Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
  • Class eligibility – Students studying in Plus 1 and 2 are eligible for the scholarship facility of the PSY Post Matric scholarship.
  • Educational Qualification – Candidates who have passed any qualifying exam in 2020-2021can get the benefits of the scholarship. However, if the students have passed the previous year, they will not be eligible to get the scholarship.
  • Scholarship reservation – 20% of the seats are reserved for disabled candidates and 30% for girl candidates.

Documents required to registrar online for pre-matric and post-matric scholarships

  • Residential documents – As the scheme is eligible for Indian Nationals, the candidates have to produce suitable documents justifying the same.
  • Identification details – Students need to produce a school ID card and Aadhaar card at the time of online registration under the scheme.
  • Income certificate – Suitable income certificate of parents or ration cards should be furnished when applying for the scheme.
  • Educational certificate –School mark sheet and suitable documents should be given to justify the student’s aggregate result.

Also, to this, the students need to produce a recommendation letter to get the scholarship details. Along with this, guardian’s ID proof is also important to have at the time of registration. It will be scrutinized by higher authority to check whether the student is eligible to avail of the scheme benefits.

What are the selection criteria for the students?

Full-time course – Only the students who are part of any full-time program are eligible to get the scholarship benefits. 

Academic qualification – There are three different categories of giving the scholarship benefits.

  1. Category 1 – Students in class 1 to 5th should have 50% aggregate
  2. Category 2 – Students of classes 5th to 10th should have 60% aggregate
  3. Category 3 – students with disabilities should have an aggregate of 50%

However, the applications submitted will be verified online before the candidates are considered eligible for the scheme benefits.

Online under the scholarship scheme

The candidate has to visit the official portal of the schemeand read the instructions thoroughly before they fill up the application form. Candidates should enter correct details in the application form, failing to be rejected by the higher authorities.

After filling the form, the candidates have to click on the ‘send’ option that would complete the registration for the scholarship scheme.
