Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna is a widespread national scheme for financial inclusion introduced by the newly elected Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. This scheme allows the provision of financial services at affordable costs to the low-income class of society. Jan Dhan Yojna will assist poor families in several offers such as opening a new bank account without any balance. It has also declared that each household must have a bank account to their name as a top priority. This scheme was launched on India’s Independence Day in 2014 and has already helped a large number of bank accounts to be established, especially in the rural areas.
Unlike earlier financial plans its focus is not just limited to rural areas but also spread to the poor families residing in urban areas. Creating a bank account assists in eliminating the untouchability from the system, connecting you to the country’s economic structure.
The Jan Dhan Yojna is extremely beneficial since it permits every family to have their own bank account free of cost and quite easily from any bank branch. Any individual above the age of 10 can avail of this facility. When you open an account, a special RuPay debit card is issued to you to allow you to withdraw cash from your account. This card can work at all ATM’s. There is no minimum balance amount required since you open your Jan Dhan Yojna account at zero balance. So, fear of the account being closed is not present due to this. Jan Dhan Yojna also offers Rs. 1 lac accidental and Rs. 30,000 life insurances to all the account holders, which is perhaps the best feature of Jan Dhan Yojna.
This scheme is a great step in the right direction for economic growth and development.
